Reasons to Plan a Wells Reserve Wedding
- Full Weekend Rental: Your site reservation runs from 3pm to sunset on Friday, then early Saturday through 3 pm Sunday. Get your decorating done Friday, celebrate all day Saturday, and return for a Sunday brunch.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can we tour the site ahead of time?
Yes. We're open every day from 7 am to sunset, so you can visit at your convenience.
Some indoor facilities are not typically open to the public, so if you would like a full tour please make advance arrangements with our wedding office at 207-646-4521 ext 151. Don't miss our virtual tour (above).
What are the rental hours?
Friday 3pm to sunset, Saturday 7am to 11pm (no music after 10pm), Sunday 7am to 3pm.
Can the fee be considered a tax deduction?
Because you are obtaining the use of the site in return for your payment, your wedding fee is not a deductible expense.
When is the best time for weddings at the Wells Reserve at Laudholm?
Weddings are best suited between May and October.

What spaces are available?
Our historic barn, auditorium, and kitchen are reserved for your activities. The grounds are also open for open-air or tented activities. Public restrooms are available.
What is the size of the barn and auditorium?
The rear of the barn is about 31'x32', the center aisle is 11 ft wide, and the front of the barn is about 31'x26'. The auditorium is about 33'x35'.
How many people can we invite? How many does the barn hold?
The maximum number of guests is 250. The barn can comfortably seat 130 to 150.
Are tents permitted?
Yes, tents are allowed in designated areas. If it takes more than the standard set-up time (4-8 hrs), there will be an additional $200 daily impact fee.
Is there backup power?
The barn has a generator for backup lighting.
Are there guest accommodations?
No.
Can we cook on open flames or have fire pits?
We do not allow open flames or fire pits. Cookers must be contained and located in a designated area behind the barn and near the kitchen access door.
Are beach weddings permitted?
The Wells Reserve manages Laudholm Beach, but it is a public beach. We do not promote beach ceremonies, but they are permissible for small gatherings.
Is the property on the waterfront?
Wells Bay is visible from the Laudholm campus. It is a 10- to 20-minute walk to the beach (less than ½ mile).
What is available for on-site transportation?
We do not offer golf carts or other vehicles for private use, but you may rent golf carts for transporting small groups to the beach for photos or to help chauffeur guests with disabilities.
Is alcohol permitted?
Yes. A licensed State of Maine bartender or catering company must carry proof of their liquor license. Otherwise you must obtain Host Liquor Liability Insurance for the duration of your event.
How do we reserve a date?
A contract will be sent to you for signatures. A refundable security deposit and portion of the rental fee is due when remitting your contract. The remaining fees are due 6 months prior to your event. Payment MUST be received in the form of a cashier’s check, money order, or credit card payment. NO EXCEPTIONS. Without a contract dates can only be held for three weeks.
Are there any other restrictions I might need to know in advance?
While the Wells Reserve is a smoke-free facility, we have identified one designated smoking area.
We do not allow:
- Pets
- Smoking
- Candles in the barn
- Sparklers or fireworks
- Floating sky lanterns
- Helium balloons
- Music after 10pm
