Protected Lands

The 2,250 acres of protected lands comprising the Wells Reserve lie entirely within the Town of Wells, but stretch from the Little River (at the Kennebunk line) to the Ogunquit River. These conservation lands are owned by:

  • Maine Department of Conservation (533 acres)
  • U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service/Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge (1,428 acres)
  • Town of Wells (249 acres)
  • Wells Reserve Management Authority (40 acres)

The Wells Reserve manages its natural resources with guidance from its conservation partners.
